7 Nights / 8 Days

The package

Eight days on the trail of Shripad Shrivallabha, from his birthplace to his tapobhoomi.

Along the way it takes in the Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga at Srisailam, high in the Nallamala forest, and the brindavan of Guru Raghavendra Swamy at Mantralayam on the Tungabhadra — four of the Deccan's most revered shrines in a single circuit.

An escorted group tour with a tour manager throughout, and hotels and an air-conditioned coach for the land portion. Train travel to Andhra Pradesh and back is arranged separately — the fare and on-board meals are not part of the package.

When to go

This tour runs on fixed group departures — ask us which dates are open for the season you have in mind.

October – February
The pleasant season across the Deccan — the best window for the Nallamala hills and the river shrines.
March – June
Hot and dry inland, and very warm at Srisailam and Mantralayam.
July – September
Monsoon. The Krishna and Tungabhadra run high, and the Kuravpur crossing can be affected.
Before you pack

Important travel notes

  • Datta Jayanti and Guru Purnima draw very large crowds at Pithapuram and Mantralayam; darshan queues are long on those days.
  • Kuravpur sits on an island in the Krishna and is reached by boat — the crossing depends on the river level and can be affected in the monsoon.
  • Carry valid government-issued photo identification for the train.
  • Srisailam lies within a tiger reserve in the Nallamala forest, so forest-road timings are fixed and darshan slots can be busy.
  • Meals through the tour are simple and vegetarian.
  • Carry all regular medicines with prescriptions — pharmacies are scarce between the temple towns.

Optional experiences

These can be added to the package at an additional cost.

  • Special or VIP darshan tickets where available
  • The Patalganga ropeway at Srisailam
  • Additional nights at Srisailam or Mantralayam
  • Travel insurance

This package can be customised around

  • Choice of group departure date
  • Room occupancy
  • Meal preferences
  • Train class and booking assistance
  • Extra shrines added to the circuit
