Before you pack

Important travel notes

  • Carry valid government-issued photo identification for the train and flight.
  • Padmanabhaswamy Temple enforces a strict dress code — dhoti for men, saree or long skirt for women — and non-Hindus are not admitted.
  • Several southern temples require men to remove shirts before entering the inner sanctum.
  • Mobile phones and cameras are not permitted inside most of these temples.
  • The 22 Kund Snan at Rameswaram involves being doused with water at each well; carry a change of clothes.
  • Dhanushkodi is reached over a narrow spit and can be closed in rough weather.
  • Carry light cotton clothing, a hat and sunscreen — the south is hot for most of the year.

Optional experiences

These can be added to the package at an additional cost.

  • Special darshan tickets where available
  • Additional nights at Kanyakumari
  • Kodaikanal or Ooty extension
  • Travel insurance
